Julia Smushkova was born into a creative family of an actress/director and a journalist/writer. At age 4, she had already become part of a children’s show theatre, where she performed for 12 years as a dancer, singer, and actress. Furthermore, she was a part of multiple talent contests, where she got recognition from judges. At 16, she entered the National University of Theatre, Cinema, and TV, where she got her BA and MA degrees. In her second year of studying, she was accepted into a National Academy Drama Theatre, where she later became a part of a troupe and worked there for eight years, becoming one of the leading young actresses. The performance The View From the Bridge where she played Catherine, brought her city recognition, and her role of “Olga Elezkaya” in the classical play Freeloader aka Parasite won the Best Young Actress of the Theatrical Festival and put her on a list of Top 20 Young Actresses 2018 according to internet magazine edition glavcom.ua Besides her work at the theatre, Julia and her fellow actors created a rock band, where she played drums and sang back vocals, giving concerts at local bars between rehearsals and performances. In 2019, she decided to start a new chapter in her life and moved to LA to make her dreams come true.
