Danny Buday is a film and TV director, writer and producer. Danny has directed multiple thriller feature films for Lifetime Movie Network, including the movies Bound By Blackmail, Crazy, Rich and Deadly, Killer in Suburbia, Ex Next Door and Dating To Kill. Danny also directed the romantic comedy Country Christmas Album for Ion Television and Second Chance Christmas for UPTV and MarVista Entertainment. Danny previously directed the kids adventure film Paws P.I. for Lionsgate. Danny also wrote and directed the theatrically released war drama Battle Scars, which world premiered at the G.I. Film Festival and won the Founders’ Choice Award for Best Feature Film.
Danny’s feature directorial debut was the successful, independent film 5 Star Day, starring Cam Gigandet and Jena Malone. 5 Star Day won the Jury Award for Best Feature at the Stony Brook Film Festival and was the Opening Night Gala Film at the Newport Beach Film Festival. In addition, 5 Star Day was the Closing Night FIlm of the Beverly Hills Film and New Media Festival, where Danny received the award for Best Directorial Debut of a Feature Film. 5 Star Day was released theatrically by distributor Gravitas Ventures and remains one of their highest-grossing Video On Demand independent drama titles.
Danny is a graduate of the American Film Institute (AFI) masters directing program. He wrote, directed and composed the score for the award-winning AFI thesis film Dependency, which was recognized as an official selection of the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, the Camerimage Film Festival and voted Best Student Film at the Dallas Film Festival. Danny has an MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from California State University at Long Beach. He resides in Los Angeles, CA.
